Use your electrical technician skills to design and build electro-optical systems to push boundaries for NASA and DoD. Fibertek is looking for an Electrical Technician to join our Herndon, VA location to contribute to the development of laser products within our R&D team. By taking on both short and long-term projects, you will use your versatility to bring uncharted laser research into the aerospace industry.

The Electronics Technician will work both independently and on small teams to support the development, assembly, test, and modification of electronics systems.  The Electronics Technician will perform a wide range of hands-on tasks related to the assembly, integration, and test of electronics circuit boards, systems, and associated cabling/harnessing.

Projects may include design, prototyping, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of components, circuitry, boards, and systems.  The more the job applicant can contribute to any and all of the above, the more valuable they will be to the company.  The work load will at times include multiple concurrent projects, with a mix of small, short, quick-turn projects and larger, more complex, longer term projects.

Requirements
To succeed in this Electrical Technician role, you’ll need the below expertise and experience

  • EE Associate’s degree preferred
  • Experience assembling and testing electronics systems
  • Familiarity with the use of lab instruments and equipment: power supply configuration and set-up, oscilloscope operation and data capture, DMMs, voltage, current, and power measurements.
  • Familiarity with standard components and circuits (resistors, capacitors, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with schematic capture and layout tools (Altium, Pads, etc.) preferred.
