Healthcare Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for coordination and management of all aspects of project implementation according to the established time schedule.  The Project Manager will work closely with supporting staff and upper management to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule and oversee the quality of project deliverables.
Role Description:
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Project Manager will:
  • Plan, organize and direct all activities as required for the full implementation of project goals and objectives
  • Ensure that project activities are consistent with the project objectives and that objectives can be met with available resources
  • Ensure the project meets targets, budgets and time-lines, with appropriate reporting and evaluation
  • Develop, complete and finalize all project deliverables according to the timeline
  • Tasks may include:
    • Formulating and defining system scope and objectives in accordance with the client and VA stakeholder technical requirements
    • Compiling and analyzing technical data
    • Advising client and VA stakeholders on complex system projects and activities
    • Working closely with client and VA stakeholders to define information systems and equipment requirements
    • Providing instruction on and performing and documenting quality assurance reviews
  • Manage day-to-day client relationships and communications and represent ERPi at client progress meetings and briefings
  • Prepare progress reports and client briefings
  • Prepare quality project deliverables
  • Help to plan and execute program within client governance structure
  • Support client and VA stakeholder growth initiatives by identifying additional opportunities and scoping/responding to follow-on tasks
  • Conduct career guidance to employees and encourage them to be career focused through personal development, outstanding performance, and good attitude
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluation of the performance of employees and implement appropriate retention strategies to minimize the staff turnover rate
  • Conduct employee grievances and counseling and prepare reports with recommendations and action plans for implementation
  • Refer difficult and complicated disciplinary, grievance and counseling cases to the respective HR professionals or management
Required Skills and Experiences:
  • Six years of experience managing healthcare related projects
  • Demonstrated experience in project management best practices such as PMI’s PMBOK
  • Experience managing complex transformational projects
  • Demonstrated experience in keeping employees motivated, resolving conflicts, and making hard decisions for your employees
  • Applied knowledge of analytical skills with ability to define, collect, and analyze data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and make logical decisions, including needs assessment and gap analysis
  • Demonstrated experience developing detailed project plans, project budgets, resource plans, and risk management plans
  • Excellent executive level written and verbal communication skills in English and including briefings, report writing, strategic documentation and publication/presentation of project results
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and Visio
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, results-driven environment
  • Ability to think strategically to effectively assess clients’ situation and assemble service solutions to meet clients’ needs
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts
  • Coordinate, participate, facilitate and take minutes at client and VA stakeholder meetings
  • Engage and ensure participation of all key project stakeholders
  • Develop project methodologies and an evaluation plan
  • Ensure timely preparation of information and other written documents/material as required for implementation of project activities
  • Ensure and maintain effective and on-going communication with individuals and groups involved directly or indirectly in the project
  • Continually monitor the progress of the project
  • Conduct an orderly, systematic and incremental evaluation of the project
  • Update the Program Manager and upper management on a regular basis about the progress of the project
  • Work in conjunction with Program Manager to prepare reports, financial and activities, for client and VA stakeholders
  • Engage in other project-related tasks
Additional Skills Desired
  • Experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Ability to build and manage internal and external relationships at all levels within an organization while possessing diplomacy and cooperative style necessary to work effectively with diverse individuals across functional disciplines
  • Experience with healthcare networks
  • Experience with large healthcare transformations
