Business Process Management Consultant

We are seeking a consultant to support a core mission program at the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Office of Business Process Integration (OBPI). OBPI serves as the central entity providing business analysis, continuous improvement, and project management support across all VBA business lines, staff offices, and affiliate organizations.
 
Position Overview
 
In support of this effort, we are looking for qualified Management Consultants to:
 
  • Shape and execute various types of business analyses that will shape and drive implementation of the future strategic vision, operating model, and supporting business infrastructure of a large, complex, program management organization.
  • Design and implement process improvements that integrate strategy, technology and people, reducing complexity and risk of mission-critical business imperatives.
  • Drive overall program management capability advancements across the client organization
  • Engage leadership across the organization, highlighting and communicating innovative solutions and findings to multiple levels of leadership.
 Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree (e.g., BS, BA)
  • Five (or more) years of experience managing projects in a business or system integration setting
  • Three (or more) years of experience in management consulting, including areas such as:  Business Analysis, Organizational Analysis, Performance Measurement/Management, Organizational Transformation, Business Process Reengineering/Improvement, Change Management, Economic (Cost) Analysis, Business Case Analysis
  • Ability to be an innovative, resourceful, and collaborative problem solver
  • Strong organization, prioritization, team-work and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate thoughts, ideas, and solutions logically in written and oral situations
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, results-driven environment
  • Ability to provide thought leadership to senior level client leadership
 Preferred Skills
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred
  • Experience with business process re-engineering and/or Lean Six Sigma
  • Experience with managing small teams
  • Experience with IT Modernization efforts
  • 5-10 years of project management experience with a Bachelor’s degree and a portion of said experience must be in the federal government. The years of project management experience must include the following areas:
