Interior Designer / Space Planner - Mid level

A key client of ours has a need for a mid level Interior Designer / Space Planner.
This is a full time position as a W2 employee (no 3rd parties or 1099s).
Contract was awarded in December 2016, and is funded for 3 years
Candidate must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain a public Trust clearance.

This is a wonderful opportunity to work on a Nationally Registered Historic Facility and drive large Agency operations with project coordination and design skills. You will work independently (you are the only designer) in a fast paced and dynamic environment to drive project results. Support entire project lifecycle from inception to delivery with consulting support for business requirements gathering, solutioning, design and estimation according to best practices and Agency standards and procedures (SOPs). Experience designing space in a Federal setting a plus, as is knowledge of Federal ADA requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct effective and ongoing project stakeholder engagement throughout project lifecycle, act as a consultant to stakeholders throughout the project to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved and overall results are achieved. Consistently use project frameworks and checklists to ensure completeness, timeliness and effective coordination.
  • Drive effective weekly status and tracking report of projects and action items, provides information on the weekly report. Provide effective stakeholder communications related to project issues and risks.
  • Delivery high-quality requirements gathering process using various tools and proven techniques for office and conference room space, alterations, or office redesigns. Offer suggestions to stakeholders on solutions to optimize outcomes.
  • Using Agency tools and processes analyze requests for all types of space alterations such as the installation or removal of partitions, electric and telephone receptacles, telecommunications, LAN and security systems, etc., and other requested changes as may be appropriate.
  • Produce draft and final design package using computer-aided design tools (CAD) for validation and final stakeholder approval.
  • Delivery required project documentation, including but not limited to: LOE’s Statements of Work (SOW), Analysis of Alternative (AOA), Project Schedules and complete As-Builts Design Packages.
  • Support entire bid-process walk-throughs by supporting contractors, including walkthrough documentation and follow up for action items and questions.
  • Execute systematic change management process to ensure all stakeholder changes are incorporated into design packages and are routed for stakeholder approval and incorporated into overall level of estimate (LOE) baseline.
  • • Responsible for on-site engagement and interaction with client.
    • Develop quarterly charts displaying occupancy levels and tenant activity in 5 owned and leased buildings. 
    • Manage on-site construction of interior office space requiring customer consultation, drafting of construction documents, budget estimation, and subcontractor collaboration. 
    • Generate and maintain accurate AutoCAD drawings and coordinate strategic planning with contractor. 
    • Consult with client representative to determine space needs, design alteration package with floor plans and estimates, and procure final space needs. 
    • Designed complete office fit out to include space planning, paint and furniture, fabric selection, and carpet consultation.
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of relevant consulting experience in space alterations project coordination and design development
  • Demonstrated skills in client engagement and requirements gathering
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to support multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust level clearance
  • Demonstrated skills and expertise in the AutoCAD tool set
  • Bachelor’s degree or other certifications in relevant subject matter
