IT systems Lab Engineer - Dept of State

We are hiring a full-time Lab Engineer position. This position is as a deployed engineer located onsite at one of our Federal customers in the Washington D.C. metro area. The Lab Engineer will be key to develop an enterprise lab that brings multiple labs together as a Federated lab.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with customers to determine their functional needs
  • Translate customer needs into hardware/software requirements for existing or new hardware/software applications
  • Deploy lab IT systems
  • Act as the technical team lead for integration projects
  • Provide Tier III support to deployed systems
  • Assist in the development of Enterprise policies and directives
  • Participate in functional or UAT testing to ensure final product meets intent of the customer’s needs
  • Conduct Technical Exchange Meetings
  • Create test plans, installation guides, technical specifications, white papers as needed
  • Communicate regularly to government POCs regarding project activities and status
Years of Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 + years recent Microsoft systems integration and design experience
Required Qualifications
  • Experience being a lead in a lab environment
  • Experience with lab transformation from legacy environments into modern lab environments
  • Server virtualization and domain experience
  • LAN/WAN networking experience
  • Experience working with customers to capture/document requirements
  • Strong ability to multi-task and work independently
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with CloudShell
  • Experience with VMware vSphere ESXi and vCenter
  • Experience with hardware platforms such as NetApp, HP Servers, Cisco Servers, Cisco switching
  • Knowledge on how to configure Cisco switches, bring up server hardware and configure virtual environments using centralized storage
  • Knowledge of Department of State processes and procedures considered a significant plus.
  • Ability to apply ITIL v3 Foundation concepts within the workplace
  • Experience with enterprise storage arrays (e.g. NetApp, EMC, Hitachi, etc.)
  • Experience with Enterprise Backup and disaster recovery systems
  • Strong scripting skills
  • MCSE certification
