We are looking for a full-time Linux Administrator. This position will be based in Washington DC at our customer site. Responsibilities will include patching, security mitigation work, monitoring, and server management. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting Oracle systems and databases, and be comfortable managing Linux servers. This position will install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot virtual and physical machines on RHEL 5.x & 6.x platforms. As a member of a 7-person infrastructure support team, occasional evening and weekend support will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Ensure availability and stability of production Linux servers
* Manage systems via Red Hat Satellite Server
* Support new builds of RHEL 6.x servers
* Installation and support of all third-party tools which reside on the OS including both application middleware and performance/security monitoring tools
* Monitor and correct issues involving, disk, memory, and CPU
* Recommend, plan, design, build, document, and deploy infrastructure upgrades
* Support ad hoc requests from development and operations team members
* Write Standard Operating Procedures for system administrator related tasks
Required Qualifications:
* 5+ years as a RHEL administrator or equivalent UNIX/LINUX variant
* Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years equivalent experience in IT or a related field
* Minimum 2 to 5+ years of technical experience in infrastructure administration experience
* Proficient in installation, support and troubleshooting of RHEL 5.x and/or RHEL 6.x
* Be able to provide support during scheduled weekend maintenance windows
* Proven analytical and problem solving skills
* Experience writing scripts to assist in administrative tasks
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Customer focused with dedication to customer satisfaction
Desired Qualifications
* VMware vSphere 5.X experience
* Red Hat Satellite Server experience
* Experience with best practice methodologies such as ITIL, Six Sigma, CMMI
* Red Hat Certified System Administrator
* Familiarity with RHEL 6.x
* Experience with Puppet

Location: Washington D.C. near Verizon Center
Shift: 8.5 hour shift between the hours of 7:00 am and 6:00 pm with occasional on-call and weekend deployment support
